Advanced Query


This document explains how to use the Advanced query type available in the Content tab of the Divi FilterGrid plugin.

Once the Advanced query type option is selected, the following options will become available.

  • Select Post Types – clicking on this input will display a popup window which will allow you to select one or more custom post type.
  • Use Taxonomies – leave this option off if you want to display all posts from the selected post type(s) above. Turning this option on will reveal the inputs below, allowing you to limit the results by taxonomy and term.
  • Select Taxonomies – clicking on this input will display a popup window which will allow you to select one or more taxonomy (Categories, Tags, Project Categories, Project Tags, etc.). You will only be able to select taxonomies associated with the post type(s) you selected in the Select Post Types input above.
  • Taxonomies Relation – this option allows you to choose the query relationship between the taxonomies. In most cases the default option OR should be selected.
  • Select Terms – clicking on this input will display a popup window which will allow you to select one or more term (Category One, Category Two, Tag One, Project Category One, Project Category Two, Project Tag One, etc.). You will only be able to select terms associated with the taxonomy you selected in the Select Taxonomies input above.
  • Terms Relation – this option allows you to choose the query relationship between the terms. In most cases the default option OR should be selected.
  • Exclude Taxonomies – clicking on this input will display a popup window which will allow you to select one or more taxonomy you would like to use to exclude posts.
  • Exclude Taxonomies Relation – this option allows you to choose the query relationship between the excluded taxonomies. In most cases the default option OR should be selected.
  • Exclude Terms – clicking on this input will display a popup window which will allow you to select one or more terms you would like to use to exclude certain posts. You will only be able to select terms associated with the taxonomy you selected in the Exclude Taxonomies input.
